DESCRIPTION

HPE has identified certain HPE 1400W Flex Slot Platinum Plus Hot-Plug Power Supplies (Option Part Number 720620-B21; Assembly Number 733428-401, Spare Part Number 754383-001) that have a potential to cause an electrical shock, under a specific set of conditions. In order for a potential electrical shock to be present, both of the following conditions must exist:

IMPORTANT: As of the release date of this Bulletin, this issue has not been reported in a customer environment.

This may occur on any of the servers listed in the Scope section below configured in either a single, dual or multiple power supply configuration.

Note: HPE 1400W Hot-Plug Power Supplies with Part Number 733428-101 within Spares Kit Number 754383-001 are not affected by this issue.

SCOPE

Any of the following server platforms configured with the following HPE 1400W Flex Slot Platinum Plus Hot-Plug Power Supply:

RESOLUTION

HPE has identified the CT/ Serial Numbers of potentially affected HPE 1400W Flex Slot Platinum Plus Hot-Plug Power supplies and is implementing a remediation program to proactively replace these power supplies. Replacement power supplies will be supplied at no cost to the customer. Although the power supplies are hot-pluggable, due to the nature of this particular issue, HPE recommends shutting down the server prior to replacing the PSUs.

CT Date Codes: CT date codes can be discerned via the CT Number printed on the power supply´s product label. For affected power supplies, the 8th and 9th digits of the CT Number will be 'NF.'

Gather the CT Numbers for HPE 1400W Flex Slot Platinum Plus Hot-Plug Power Supplies that must be remediated and click the following URL to enter power supply CT/Serial Numbers for validation and to order replacement power supplies through the OneHP website.

Note: If the status displays 'Not eligible for replacement,' please contact oaclienthp@hpe.com by clicking the link on the order page. Include the serial numbers and product number (JLXXXA) in the email. It will take approximately 3 days to confirm eligibility.

IMPORTANT: Affected power supplies must be returned to OneHP within 30 days of receiving replacement power supplies. Please use the packaging that came with the replacement power supplies to return your power supplies to OneHP. If OneHP does not receive potentially affected power supplies within 30 days, the customer (or entity who ordered the replacement power supplies) will receive a bill for any unreturned power supplies.

CT/Serial Numbers: HPE 1400W Flex Slot Platinum Plus Hot-Plug Power Supply CT Numbers can be found on the power supply's product label or in HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) under the 'Serial' heading by navigating from System > System Information > Power Supply Summary.

If one or more of the power supplies have failed as indicated by health LEDs, error indicators or the iLO status as described above, precaution should be taken in the servicing of the unit and or replacement of the failed power supplies. Disconnect power to the supply at the PDU or Power input side, before disconnecting the line cord from the power supply.
